Paint Night, Storytimes, Chess Club and a Maple Festival!

This week is full of fun events for the whole family! Everything from reading to dogs to a Paint Night, Chess Club, and more! The highlight event is the Maple Festival in Storrs this weekend!

Monday, March 4

Read to Office Hodges at the Waterford Library: Stop by the Children's Room anytime between 4:30 and 5:30 pm to read to one of our favorite furry friends, Officer Hodges!   No registration required, all ages welcome.    

Teen Study Hours at the Groton Public Library: Teen Study Hours will be at the Teen Programming Area and are open to students in grades 6-12 to study. The Teen Programming Area will be opened for students in grades 6-12 to study—no registration required.

Paint night for 12+ at the Groton Public Library:  Join the Groton Public Library and create a unique piece of art to bring home! All supplies will be provided.  This event is open to patrons ages 12 +. There is no registration required.

Tuesday, March 5

Storytime at the Sprague Library: Sprague Public Library is hosting a Children's Storytime on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. Children can make new friends for stories, songs, and weekly social time. Registration is encouraged.

Stop-in Creation time at the Waterford Library: Stop by the Children's Room anytime between 4:00 and 6:00 pm at the Waterford Library for a fun craft and to get your creativity flowing! Children will create a piece for this session to celebrate Women's History Month.      

Recommended for ages 5 and up. No registration required. 


Wednesday, March 6

Chess Club at the Mystic Noank Library:  The Mystic Noank Library invites kids grades 3 and up to learn chess strategy and chess sportsmanship and organize games. The Chess Club meets on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm and is instructed by Michael Grater, a library associate and chess enthusiast! Meet us in the Ames Room for all the fun! Class size is limited. Registration required.

Reading with Gracie the therapy dog at the Otis Library: Gracie the Therapy Dog will be at the Otis Library for kids to cuddle and read to!  Courtesy of Ms. Pepin. Drop-in; no registration required. For children of all  ages.


Thursday, March 7

Study time at the Waterford Library: Does your child need extra assistance completing school work? Stop by the library between 4:00 and 6:00 pm for our weekly Study Buddies Club, run by Waterford High School Honor Society tutors. Students in elementary and middle school are welcome, no registration required. Please note, tutors are available on a first come first serve basis. Parents and caregivers must remain at the library while their child is participating.

Saturday & Sunday, March 9 & 10

Eastern CT Maple Festival in Storrs: What do families do in early spring that is fun, delicious, and lots of fresh air? They go to the Maple Festival!

It's time for MAPLE TREATS and more!! Food trucks, kids activities and games, live music, artisans and makers, demonstrations, the history of maple sugaring, making maple syrup, and much more.
